Eastern North Carolina Coordinator

The North Carolina Coalition for a Moratorium (NCCM) is a group of organizations, associations, and citizens across the state that support a suspension of executions while the North Carolina General Assembly enacts the necessary reforms to improve our criminal justice system. The coalition's members include Democrats and Republicans, and supporters and opponents of the death penalty.

NCCM seeks a coordinator for the eastern North Carolina region to further the mission and outreach of the organization.  This is a full-time, one-year position with the possibility to renew depending upon funding.  Salary is dependent upon level of experience/qualification.  The coordinator’s primary responsibility will be to coordinate the efforts of new and existing coalition partners in the eastern North Carolina region while the NC General Assembly enacts substantive reforms of the death penalty.

These activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating all activities of coalition partners in the eastern North Carolina region
  • Recruiting and keeping engaged new coalition partners within the region 
  • Working with statewide coalition on developing and implementing strategy
  • Communicating regularly with local media
  • Writing and soliciting op-eds and blog postings in support of death penalty reform

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional people and organizational skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of political landscape in NC
  • Management skills
  • Self motivated
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • You must live in or be willing to relocate to the eastern North Carolina region to be considered for this position.
